Privacy Policy

1. What this app is

TogetherFunds AI is a private household financial organization tool for two spouses or partners. It helps you track bills, plan spending, scan receipts, and connect optional third-party services such as Plaid (bank accounts) and Gmail (receipt and bill discovery). The app does not move money, make payments, or place transactions on your behalf.

2. Information we collect

• Account and profile data: your email address, first and last name, and authentication information managed through Supabase Auth.
• Household data: the household you create or join, member relationships, and roles such as owner or member.
• Financial data you enter: bills, due dates, account names and types, transaction descriptions, amounts, categories, notes, and budgets.
• Plaid-connected financial information: if you choose to link a bank account, Plaid shares account names, masked account numbers, balances, and transaction history. We do not store your bank username or password.
• Gmail data: if you authorize Gmail access, we request read-only access to identify receipts, bills, and financial statements. We do not read unrelated emails, send emails, delete messages, or modify your inbox.
• Google Drive data: if Google Drive access is enabled separately, we may save matched documents to a private folder in your own Google Drive. This is only used when you explicitly enable and authorize it.
• Uploaded files: photos of receipts, invoices, tax documents, and other images or PDFs you upload to the Financial Vault.
• Usage and error data: basic page views and error reports to help us keep the app working. We do not use this for advertising.

3. How we use your information

• To display your household finances, bills, and spending plans.
• To extract dates, amounts, and merchants from uploaded receipts and Gmail messages.
• To categorize transactions and suggest reminders.
• To generate summaries and recommendations through AI models.
• To keep your data synchronized across devices you sign in from.
• To respond to support requests and fix bugs.

4. AI and automated processing

We use Google Gemini and other AI models through the Lovable AI Gateway to extract text from receipts, classify documents, summarize transactions, and generate financial insights. AI outputs are suggestions only. We do not let AI move money or make binding financial decisions. Always review AI-generated amounts, dates, and categories before relying on them.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Lovable Cloud (Supabase). Connection keys for Gmail and other integrations are encrypted before storage and are only decrypted by server-side code when needed. We use Row Level Security so each household can only access its own rows. No storage system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection against all possible attacks.

6. Third-party services

We rely on trusted third parties to provide parts of the service:

• Supabase / Lovable Cloud for authentication, database, and file storage.
• Plaid for secure bank account aggregation, if you connect it.
• Google for sign-in, Gmail receipt discovery, and optional Drive storage.
• Gemini / Google AI for document extraction and summarization.

Each third party has its own privacy policy and terms. We only share the minimum data needed for the integration you authorize.

7. Your controls

• Disconnect Plaid, Gmail, or other integrations at any time from the Connections or Settings screens.
• Delete uploaded documents from the Financial Vault.
• Change your PIN, app lock, and biometric settings in Settings.
• Sign out on any device.

8. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active so the app can function. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your household data, we will remove your profile, household rows, uploaded files, and encrypted connection keys within a reasonable time, except where we are required to keep records by law. To request deletion, email support@togetherfunds.app from the email address associated with your account.

9. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information. We do not use your financial data to target advertising.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
